History
Castell Jalpí is a stately estate located in Arenys de Munt, province of Barcelona, which became a castle in 1895 when it became the habitual residence of the newlyweds Master August Borràs i Jalpí, and Mrs. Sofia de Algorta y Albaroa. Master. August, a bachelor of marriageable age from Sant Celoni, was the young lord, heir of a landowning family whose properties expanded around many municipalities in the regions of Maresme and La Selva. Mrs. Sofia, a maiden from the town of Lekeitio, came from an affluent family to which an exceptional dowry was granted through marriage. Their peculiar social situation allowed them to realize the most extravagant dreams. Thus, the castle was born, along with the lake, the lighthouse, the possession of the finest carriages, and the best cars of the time.
The new marriage soon had offspring. The new heir, Mr. Miquel, educated with all possible indulgence during childhood, fell in love with a young woman whom the family could never accept due to her social rank. This was the beginning of the family's social and economic decline. The struggle between mother and son to manage the fortune, and for the acceptance of his beloved, was so profound that it caused the loss of the entire family fortune.
It was from the year 2004 when the SERHS Group restored the splendor to the castle. The interiors and exteriors, which were in a deplorable state, were restored. The new management turned Castell Jalpí into the unique and singular space it is today, allowing one to experience firsthand the reality that the Jalpí family lived almost 130 years ago.
The property was also, in subsequent years, a reception center during the war for children from the Basque Country, and then passed into private hands. Subsequently, the Serhs Group acquired the property and restored it to what it is today: a place full of charm and history.
Spaces
The last heirs of the Jalpí family made their extravagance a reality with the construction of majestic rooms reminiscent of past times. Today, all these rooms provide a versatility and capacity not easily found elsewhere. Small groups or large banquets have their space. This great versatility allows the Castle to always have a positive response available in case of inclement weather.
Inside are: the August Borràs hall of 382.20 m², which is panelable and has a window overlooking the garden, providing natural light; the Gothic hall of 99.40 m², the Noble hall of 54.00 m², and the Knights hall of 56.40 m².
Outside: The Bosquet, the Pati d'Armes, and the Garden, are unique for holding outdoor events, and also allow the possibility of installing tents resulting in a capacity for more than 1,000 people.
